Last month I had the pleasure of shooting with the lovely and talented Rachel Archer of Rachel Photography. We met in College Station the day of the ceremony at The LaSalle Hotel where the bride and her bridesmaids we dressing. Rachel was very sweet and relaxed and I enjoyed working with another girl, it felt sort of empowering. Ben had the night off and it was my turn to be the second shooter. I appreciated watching Rachel interact with the bridal party, while I spirited past unseen snapping up precious hidden moments and the thoughtful details of the day. The moments in between the bigger more expected moments where you can capture the smile after the kiss, the pensive glances in quiet instances alone, those are the goal of the second shooter. The prize, if you will, to be contributed to the bounty of beautiful photographs captured with your fellow photographer.
Scott and Daniele were a very sweet couple and they were surrounded by people who adore them and were delighted to share in their celebration. The atmosphere the entire wedding day, from dressing room to reception, was full of energy, joy, and love in abundance. The beautifully traditional ceremony took place at A&M United Methodist Church and everyone there was very polite and helped Rachel and I find the best shots possible given the restrictions of an older chapel. Rachel has a lot of our lovely attempts at capturing the ceremony in such low light on her blog that you are welcome to peruse and congratulate her on a job well done in editing. I have decided to share a very small glimpse of the day, my favorite photographs as they fit into the storyline, and leave the details in Rachel’s capable hands.
After the ceremony we transitioned to Pebble Creek Country Club for the reception. Pebble Creek is where I attended my first college formal, I was very nervous, dressed in the prettiest butter yellow dress that twirled perfectly on command, and I had a very fun and memorable night. Strange to return as a photographer shooting a wedding, but exciting to be in a completely new stage in my life.
The reception was dazzling, with every detail executed perfectly, and lots of personal touches of whimsy mixed in to make the evening truly reflective of the bride and groom. The food delicious, the dancing boisterous, and Scott and Daniele seemed to soak up every moment with their guests and leap at every chance to just truly live the experience to its fullest.
