As soon as I heard that Rooney was coming to Austin, TX after their tour with Hanson, I was excited to photograph them (I’ve wanted to see them live since High School). The news that our friends from Quiet Company were opening for them at Emo’s made it perfect.
Despite challenging lighting the guys from Rooney were great subjects to shoot, they put on a fantastic show and delighted their fans. The air was permeated by enthusiasm and energy, mixed with a healthy dose of humidity. There wasn’t a bit of white light on the band from the front of the house, instead they were bathed in color which created quite a challenge for me to produce anything other than an entirely purple and red Rooney.
Waving hands, prominent mic stands, and bobbing heads made it difficult to find the right angle to shoot. However, obstacles aside, I was honored to shoot Rooney and really enjoyed the night. I hope everyone enjoys the images.
I’m posting a rather large number of images from the shoot for the Rooney fans, as many of you messaged me on twitter excited to see my photos. These images are copyrighted and I must ask that they are not used or reproduced in any other manor. Downloads and prints are available.
I truly appreciate your consideration, and hope the shots bring back many happy memories of rockin’ out with Rooney. If you’d like to use one photo in a post, feel free to do so and link back to my site for the full set. Thanks so much!
